Stables
1998 brought the return of the Stables buildings to Fort Concho. This last extant historical building was purchased that year, the culmination of efforts on the part of many people to see the structure become part of this historic site. While the existing structure apparently covers the site of the whole 1870s stables complex, only two of the six original bays exist. In these two bays the original horse tie rings are still embedded in the walls.
Much restoration work remains to be accomplished, but the return of the stables has brought valuable room for storage and special events.
