Officers'
Quarters 8
Officers' Quarters 8 was begun in the summer of 1871 and finished in 1872. In style, it was identical to Quarters 1 and 9. It contained four rooms and a hall downstairs with two attic rooms and a hall upstairs. After the abandonment of the fort, innovations by the new owners included a stone addition to the back of the building in 1936.
The Junior League of San Angelo, leased the building in 1965. They made innovations to the building as well. The original floors were uncovered and the front doors were restored to their original appearance. Included in the work was the removal of an interior partition on the west side to create a large meeting room. The addition became a modern kitchen. The Junior League occupied the building until 1981. Today the building is utilized by the fort for special events and rented to the public as a meeting space.
